Located in the heart of Midtown Manhattan, Mickey Spillane's is a vibrant and welcoming gay sports bar that effortlessly blends lively entertainment with authentic New York charm. Nestled at 350 W 49th St, this spot has earned its reputation as a local staple, drawing in a diverse crowd who come not only for the energy but also for the exceptional service and well-crafted drinks.
Step inside, and you’ll immediately feel the intimate, warm ambiance—dim lighting perfect for cozy conversations, paired with a playlist that keeps spirits high, featuring timeless pop hits from legends like ABBA and Madonna. The atmosphere strikes the perfect balance between laid-back and spirited, making it a quintessential meet-up spot whether you’re celebrating with friends or enjoying a casual night out.
Mickey Spillane’s is renowned for its expertly poured draft beers, which come as a real bargain, alongside a colorful cocktail menu that includes crowd favorites like the Frozen Strawberry Margarita and the spicy Watermelon Margarita—the latter praised for its invigorating kick that wakes up the palate. For whiskey lovers, Fireball and White Russians deliver a smooth yet punchy experience. Customer feedback consistently highlights the bartenders’ flair and personality, with one visitor charmingly recalling a bartender dancing behind the bar more than the guests, infusing the whole room with contagious good vibes.
The menu, though limited, packs a flavor punch that perfectly complements the lively setting. Must-tries include the Buffalo Chicken Nachos and wings, bursting with spice and richness that satisfy any cravings, and Angus Beef Sliders that impress with their juicy, perfectly seasoned patties. If you're in the mood for something lighter yet equally delicious, the Caprese Salad and hummus provide fresh, balanced choices. On a more indulgent note, loaded fries and cheesy chipotle quesadillas offer comfort food without pretense, ideal for sharing over spirited conversation.
What truly sets Mickey Spillane’s apart is not just the food and drinks, but the impeccable service from attentive staff like Mariana and Hayley, whose warm professionalism enhances the entire experience. Guests frequently mention feeling right at home, a testament to the genuine hospitality that pulses through this bar.
Weekends can get bustling—an energetic crowd converges here, amplifying the atmosphere into an electrifying celebration of inclusivity and fun. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, Mickey Spillane’s guarantees a memorable outing defined by great music, engaging bartenders, and flavorful bites. It’s more than a gay bar; it’s an NYC gem where every visit feels like a joyous occasion.
Mariana (I believe that’s how her name is spelled) was an excellent server who made the experience with me and friends absolutely amazing last night! Would definitely go back as an NYC local and would recommend if you’re into gay bars
This place has been a staple for years, recommended by locals, and it’s not just a gay bar. They have cheap frozen margaritas that actually hit, and it’s only $2 extra to add a flavor. The large size is $10 (and it’s not the one shown in their photos). The spicy watermelon margarita is also really good and has a nice kick. The pop music is fun, but it gets super crowded on weekends. In the summer, it’s really nice to sit outside, though there’s no music out there.
Mickeys is a Guaranteed great time EVERY TIME‼ Amazing Drinks, Great Service from professional servers and bartenders‼ You can always know that a trip here will result in a successful and happy experience!
We had the best time sitting at the bar. Can't get over how cute our bartender was (Hayley). Never seen a bartender dancer more than the customers ! Felt right at home. Great atmosphere, music (highlights were Abba and Madonna). An absolute hit. Kudos to the owners - food rocked as well
We stumbled upon this place after leaving The Ritz Bar, which was entertaining for about a minute. ATMOSPHERE: It's a sports bar. A gay sports bar! The inside is intimately lit and has good background music. There are outdoor seats too. MENU: They do serve food but I didn't get a chance to look at the menu. BEVERAGE: Langunitas Beer I got this due to the alcohol volume being higher than comparably-priced beers. It had a bitter aftertaste but was alright. SERVICE: Our female server was friendly & attentive. OVERALL: Nice place to chill and have a few without the pretentious clubby vibe.
We had a great time at Mickey Spillane's. The Buffalo wings was very good but a little salty from the sauce, Fries very tasty. The $5 Margaritas were good. You drink them like water but you'll feel good after. The hostess Jordan F. body was giving it life!!!.....But I must say the host that gave us the most was Ms.Alexis Jones...she made sure we was good. It was our first time coming to Mickey Spillane's and I must say we had a great time. I do recommend the giving. Everybody was so nice, no drama. Mickey's is the place for a good afterwork vibe.
